Midweek Moment #29: Summer's end

The final days of summer are upon us…

Midweek

At the end of a humid Sydney day, I walked down to Maroubra Beach with my sister. I was charmed by these flowers on the cliffs looking over the beach and the way they reached for the just-setting sun. Around me, people were reaching for the sun in their own ways: in the water, swimming and surfing; walking and strolling; closing their eyes in meditative poses; and greeting the sun with yoga poses.

Some flowers don’t take as well to the heat, as Louise found. The hot summer has taken its toll and her roses are wilting. Ageing flowers, like people, have their own beauty, as Louise has found. The rose still looks beautiful, the browned edges of its petals curling like paper and the darker pink outline looks as fine as if it’s been painted there deliberately.

Once a week, Louise (of Louise Allan: Life From the Attic) and I team up to share creative photos on our websites. It’s all part of our challenge to stretch ourselves creatively.
