“Wildflower is a brave and hugely necessary book. Written with such tenderness, grace and sensitivity, this book is a light in the darkness and a strong voice for the rights of all women to be safe and cherished. Monique Mulligan has written a powerful story reflecting the hope and resilience of the human spirit. A triumph of a novel.”
~ Tabitha Bird
Out OCTOBER 19, 2023
“A deeply affecting, beautifully written story, sensitively told, that tugs at the heartstrings. Readers will love the evocative descriptions of food peppered throughout.” – Vanessa Carnevale

Monique Mulligan is an author, interviewer, and founder of the Stories on Stage and Prose & Convos programs in Perth. A former journalist, news editor, book reviewer and publisher, she’s in charge of marketing at a busy arts centre. Somehow managing to fit writing around her day job, she has written two novels, Wherever You Go and Wildflower (both out in 2023 with Bloodhound Books), as well as three children’s picture books.
Monique has had essays and short stories published in several anthologies, most recently Reflections on Our Relationships with Anne of Green Gables: Kindred Spirits, published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and South of the Sun: Australian Fairy Tales for the 21st Century. She is now working on her third novel.
When she’s not working you will usually find Monique a) writing b) reading c) cooking and d) taking photos for her cat’s Instagram page. When she’s socialising, she’s usually behind a camera or in a corner hanging out with other introverts and making mental notes for stories. She also writes about her creative journey’s ups and downs on Substack.
