Do you ever have moments when you remember what it is to feel like a child again?
My inner child came to the fore while visiting Tasmania, shouting out in delight, ‘Snow!’, ‘Echidna!’, ‘Wombat!’, ‘Look at that!’ regularly while Blue Eyes wound our hire car over winding roads. Note: Not always the best thing to do when the road is winding.
But no more obvious was my inner child than in Tarraleah, a quaint 1930s-style town originally built to accommodate hydro-electric scheme workers. With its pastel cottages (pink, purple, blue and more), it is simply cute. Very cute. And when the snow fell overnight, revealing a wintry landscape at first light, my inner child, my wannabe Anne of Green Gables, was enchanted by the ‘White Way of Delight’ out the window.
Have a look through my eyes.
Isn’t it lovely?
