TEASER TUESDAY: LEE CHILD'S HIGH HEAT

teaser

I’m juggling too many balls at once at the moment, so I’m doing something cheeky for this teaser. I can’t actually give you two lines from the book I’ve chosen because … it’s not published yet. But, Random House Australia sent me this marketing teaser for an upcoming Lee Childs digital short story today and I thought I’d share.

High Heat: (A Jack Reacher Short Story), Lee ChildJuly 1977.  Jack Reacher is almost seventeen, and he stops in New York on the way to visit his brother at West Point.  The summer heat is suffocating, the city is bankrupt, and the mad gunman known as Son of Sam is still on the loose.  Reacher meets a woman with a problem, and agrees to help her … and then the power grid fails and the lights go out, plunging the lawless city into chaos.  What does a visiting teenager do in the dark?  If that visiting teenager is Jack Reacher, the answer is plenty.

High Heat, an all-new Jack Reacher digital short story, will be published worldwide as an exclusive eBook on 6 August 2013. Readers will meet a teenage Jack Reacher in prickly hot and paranoid New York in July 1977: the time of the Son of Sam murders, and the massive electricity black-out.

Sound like something you’d read?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

  1. That’s pretty awesome that you have a teaser from a book that’s not published yet. Jack Reacher from when he was 17? that should be interesting.
