Growing up, I loved Judy Blume’s books. I was especially fascinated by Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret because I could completely relate to Margaret’s desire to grow boobs! Moving on to more adult matters, here’s a teaser from Blume’s latest novel for adults, In The Unlikely Event.
Here’s the teaser:
Somewhere Miri had a father but she didn’t know where. What kind of guy leaves his seventeen-year-old pregnant girlfriend and never even sees his baby? (p29)
Here’s another:
The fathers took turns driving their daughters to and from events, a get-together in someone’s finished basement, a dance at the Y, a Saturday night movie. Miri was the only one without a father. Not that any of her friends asked about him.
Here’s the blurb:
“She held the baby close, feeling the warmth of his little body, kissing his soft cheek. He looked right into her eyes.
Outside the window, the wing broke away from the plane.
Then they were falling . . . falling diagonally out of the sky.”
When three planes crashed in Elizabeth, New Jersey within the space of three months in the early 1950s, Newark airport was closed for a year. Each of these disasters was devastating not only for those on board, but also for the close-knit community of people on the ground. In Elizabeth, the plane crashes open up new wounds and mysteries – they bring some families together and tear others apart. But somehow, life continues – and amid grief and loss, hope and love survive.
Inspired by real events, Judy Blume uses her imagination to interweave the stories of three generations of families, friends and strangers whose lives are forever changed in the aftermath. In The Unlikely Event is a captivating, deeply moving and unforgettable novel, written with the same warmth and authenticity that have won the hearts and minds of readers the world over for decades.

I do like the sound of this one – I was a big fan of Judy Blume in my teenage years. Here’s my Tuesday post https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/first-chapter-first-paragraph-june-16/
My favorite book in the universe is by Judy Blume but I was disappointed the last time I read her adult fiction. May have to give it another shot with this one. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts when you finish, Monique!
Good teasers! I haven’t read this one, but I know people are crazy about Blume.
I’m a tad annoyed because I left the book on my desk at work, so I can’t get stuck into it!
Would you believe I have never read a Judy Blume?
My teaser this week is from Isaac Asimov http://wp.me/p3Nz8P-su
Never? Then again, there are so many authors out there we never read, for whatever reason.
I am afraid to fly, even though I do it, so there is no way I would ever read this book. 🙁

I can appreciate that. Have you read any other Judy Blume books?
No, I haven’t. I guess I need to check her out. 🙂
I’ve been curious about this one. I have read all of Judy Blume’s books for middle schoolers and YAs. I’m teasing Ever After by Jude Deveraux on my adult blog this week. It’s a romance with ghosts. Happy reading!
