‘In the distance behind the departing trucks, the evening shadows had already begun to cover the figure that was almost fully concealed under the broken slabs of pavement. It was a skeletal form, still wearing a grimy, tarnished chain with the name …’ Daddy’s Gone a-Hunting, Mary Higgins Clark (p170)
It’s been a long time, Mary Higgins Clark. I used to read your books a lot … and then it was a case of ‘so many books, so little time’. But I’ve missed you! I’m hooked on Daddy’s Gone a-Hunting and my review will be posted soon. In the meantime, here’s the blurb:
A dark family secret puts the lives of two sisters in grave danger. Hannah Connelly, a young designer and rising star in the fashion world, is plunged into a nightmare beyond imagination when she learns that Connelly Fine Antique Reproductions, the family business founded by her grandfather, has been levelled by a huge explosion in the middle of the night. The ashes reveal a startling and grisly discovery, and provoke a host of suspicions and questions. Could the explosion have been deliberately set? And what was Kate, Hannah’s younger sister, doing in the building in the middle of the night. With Kate lying in hospital in a coma, it is down to Hannah to discover what truly happened on that tragic night. But little does she know that someone will do anything they can to prevent Kate regaining consciousness and revealing the truth. Ant that person us willing to kill to save himself …
Sound like something you’d read?

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Good teaser, her books are good! Here’s ours: http://www.ourstack.blogspot.com/2013/05/tuesday-teasers-two-fiction-one-non.html
Nice teaser — I have to admit I’ve been disappointed by some of her more recent books. I haven’t even bothered picking up the last 2-3. I hope you enjoy this one!
