Midweek Moment #25

I haven’t had the opportunity to get out with my camera lately, so this week I’m sharing a photo from my archives.

This image of a fern was taken in Jarrahdale a few years ago. While the kids splashed around in Gooralong Creek, I pottered around taking photos. My family is used to that nowadays. The tiny fern sprouting from a bed of soft moss caught my eye. Back then I didn’t have a macro lens so the photo is not as sharp as it could have been, but I’ve always liked this photo for its vibrant greens and soft effect. It’s calming. And sometimes calming is what we need.

Louise has also been without a camera this week, and she feels as if her third eye is missing. I completely relate to that. After a few visits to the beach, her photos were looking a bit salt-streaked, so her camera’s having a clean and Louise is also sharing an archive photo. It’s the first photo she ever took in Manual mode that worked. (The first actual photo was completely white.) Louise did a How-to-use-your-DSLR-off-Auto course at UWA and this hibiscus was the result.

Once a week, Louise (of Louise Allan: Life From the Attic) and I team up to share creative photos on our websites. It’s all part of our challenge to stretch ourselves creatively.
