WHAT TO READ…

I have a dilemma. What shall I read next? There are six books to choose from in my reading pile and all look good: a thriller, a travel memoir, a “Steampunk-style” novel, a thought-provoking read, a self-help book and a fantasy novel. All good choices. And I know, I’m lucky to have such an array to choose from.

Imagine a wall of books like this. Bliss.

But here’s the thing. Sometimes I don’t want to read a book straight away because all too soon I will have finished it. I hear you saying, that’s weird. I know. I need help. In my defence, is anyone familiar with the Paul Sweeney quote, “You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend”? That rings so true for me. I will admit though, that putting off reading a book because you’ll finish it eventually is a weird kind of defence mechanism. Must be time for therapy of the popcorn kind. That always puts me in the mood for reading!

I’ve finished Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult and a review will be on Write Note Reviews by the end of the week. I was all set to put the review online today, but I have to wait for the publication date first.

PS. I’ve gone with travel memoir Sicily, It’s Not Quite Tuscany by Shamus Sillar because its publication date was my birthday. Felt like a sign. Besides, I could do with a holiday and the best I’ll get right now is in my mind.
