Following a Twitter conversation about this book, I was sent You by Caroline Kepnes with a note: “I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It is quite a ride!” She was right – it’s a chiller of a thriller. Here’s the teaser:
I go in for the hug and you let me hug you and we fit well together. My arms take you. I could squeeze you to death and to life and I pull away first because I know how you girls can be about this stuff, your basic instincts ruined by magazines and TV.
Here’s another:
You slap my knee and you like it and I like it and skaters pass by and a toddler screams about chocolate ice cream and a hippie plays a banjo and a gainfully employed c**t is talking too loudly on her phone. All of it is for us and your voice lowers.
And here’s the blurb:
From debut author Caroline Kepnes comes You, a brilliant and terrifying novel for the social media age. When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card. There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting. As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.
A terrifying exploration of how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation, debut author Caroline Kepnes delivers a razor-sharp novel for our hyper-connected digital age. You is a compulsively readable page-turner that’s being compared to Gone Girl, American Psycho, and Stephen King’s Misery.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My husband read this and liked it but said it had crude language so I passed on it. He said the story line though is very good! Hope you are enjoying it.
The teasers are good. I have to admit I’m not a fan of this type of POV narration. I find it distracting. I’m glad you are enjoying it, though.
Here’s My Teaser

I have heard such mixed reactions to this one…and yet I am consistently drawn to it. I am very sure I will soon be adding it to Sparky, my Kindle. Thanks for sharing.
