Midweek Moment #49: When life is clearly blurry

Louise and I have gone for opposites this week – one image is sharply defined and the other is abstract. Enjoy!

Midweek

I lugged my camera to Balingup’s Telling Tales festival last weekend in anticipation of some misty morning shots. The mist didn’t materialise, and it rained on and off during the weekend, so the camera ended up being a bit of an inconvenience at times. I wished more than once that I’d left it in the cabin. Why? I had to move to different locations for my workshops and carrying all my gear, including an umbrella, became a little tiresome. The camera bag is pretty heavy, loaded down with extra flashes and lenses!

Luckily, though, I persevered, or I wouldn’t have got this shot. Outside a goldsmith shop in Balingup, I found a little waterfall, and while I was waiting for children to arrive for my session, I amused myself by playing with different shutter speeds. This one had a very fast shutter speed, and look how glass-like the water is. Later on, I tried to capture an image of a raindrop falling, but I was less successful with that. I did take a few other photos, but I am going to share them in my second write up about the festival.

Due to the cold, Louise has been playing with her camera indoors this week and having lots of fun. She deliberately blurred her photos to see how they turned out, and was surprisingly pleased with the effect. They’re quite artistic in an abstract kind of way. Any idea what the subject of the photos might be? You’ll have to slip over to her blog to find out.
