Some of you may know that I worked as a journalist and news editor for about six years (2006-2011). During that time, I wrote a column called Balancing Act.
The column focused on aspects of my life – from the mundane to the funny, from moments about mothering to experiences our family shared. Our first trip away as a blended family … stupid fights children have … faking sick and faking showers … being THAT family on a plane … and what I thought of teenagers before I had some.
Writing the column allowed me to express myself more than I could in a typical newspaper article, which was helpful during some difficult patches in my life at that time. It was also great for venting!
More than six years after leaving that job, I still have people telling me they loved reading about the exploits of Bear, Monkey, Blue Eyes, Music Man and Miss Attitude.
I’m grateful to the West Australian Newspapers for giving me permission to reproduce as an eBook the articles written during my employment with them … and now I’m sharing them with you!
For some time, every subscriber to my mailing list was sent a free eBook copy of Balancing Act. I’m now offering a different book, The Point of Love, but if you’d still like Balancing Act, let me know.
