Many of us struggle to fit exercise and healthy eating into our busy lives. I know I do. Well, it’s not the healthy eating so much as finding time to exercise! According to Luke Hines and Scott Gooding, the popular and likeable personal trainers on Australia’s My Kitchen Rules, it’s actually pretty easy.

Hines and Gooding have already released two books – Clean Living and Clean Living Cookbook,  both of which are on my shelves. I’m going to come right out and admit that I pay more attention to the recipes and a couple of them have become pretty popular in our house. This latest book follows a similar formula – exercise routines and healthy recipes – but it has even more focus on the “quick and easy” aspect. Included are 30-minute workouts that don’t need to be done at an expensive gym, but can be done outside, in the park, in the living room and so on. Burpees, planks, and “windscreen wipers” are all on that menu.

On the eating side, there is a bunch of tasty paleo recipes that should appeal to most tastebuds, not just those on the paleo diet. As the guys say, it’s all about “nourishing the body with good quality, clean food”. I found a few in there that I want to incorporate into my family’s menu (although it’s most likely that Blue Eyes and I will eat them). Scrambled Eggs with Avo and Crispy Pancetta – that gets a yes from the kids. So do the Barbecued Pork and the Paleo Apple Pie. The Anti-Inflammatory Vegetable Smoothie looks good to me, but I am having a hard time selling it to everyone else … Others that I want to try, even if no one else does, include Zucchini and Bacon Fritters with Tomato and Avocado Salsa, and Sauteed Silverbeet with Smoked Salmon. The recipes look simple to follow and include some helpful tips for those less confident with the ingredients

If you’re trying  to bring healthy back, or you’re already on that path and need some new inspiration, check out Clean Living: Quick & Easy.

Available from good bookstores and Hachette Australia. My copy was courtesy of Hachette Australia.

  1. Those recipes sound pretty scrumptious. And I can always use some extra motivation for exercising!
