UNPUTDOWNABLE?

Books to review April 2012

Reviewers – myself included – often use the coined word “unputdownable” to describe books. I’ve read many books it was hard to tear myself away from, but yesterday I opened one that was truly hard to put down.

I started reading The Memory Tree by Tess Evans while confined to bed because I was unwell; the only reason I stopped reading this beautifully-written novel was because I fell asleep. This morning, being a rostered day off work and school holidays, I had the luxury of finishing the book before I got up. A full review will be uploaded on Write Note Reviews soon, but I’ll just say this – it has a dark beauty. Obtuse, yes?

What is the last book you read that you could describe as “unputdownable”? What is it about this book that’s so compelling?
