Midweek Moment #28: Texture and music

Music and nature continue to inspire Louise and I, both in our writing and photography. This Midweek Moment takes us in different directions along the creative path.

Midweek

What is a flower without petals? Can it still be beautiful? The texture caught my eye first: soft, fuzzy. It reminded me of ageing, of the way we are all young with soft, unlined skin one day … and then time dresses us differently. I wondered, does this seed head still have value or is it doomed to be invisible in a sea of younger, prettier flowers? And yet, it caught my eye. I see its value: the tiny seeds inside, that will give life to a new generation.

I love Louise’s photo today – she snapped it before taking her sons to school. There’s always music coming from all over her house, from early in the morning to late at night. Louise says: “At times it gets very noisy, with instruments playing and metronomes clicking and voices singing, but I know I’m home when I open the door and hear it coming all over the house. Sometimes, they even join together and play with each other, and that’s the nicest sound of all.”

Once a week, Louise (of Louise Allan: Life From the Attic) and I team up to share creative photos on our websites. It’s all part of our challenge to stretch ourselves creatively.
